My Exp with a MTW Stage 1...Now a Hybrid

So just picked up my truck after a fully Bullet Proofing, BPD FICM, BPD Water Pump, ARP Studs, head resurfacing and OEM head gaskets along with EVERY other upgraded part there is out there and last but not least a MTW Stage 1 turbo. Like the other thread out there i am experiencing a gutless P.O.S. and what i consider very high EGT's. This is only day one with about 30 miles on it. Runing it on a stock tune to start with

65 mph flat ground
Boost 2-5#
EGT 842

65 mph slight incline
Boost 11-15
EGT 988

40 mph steep hill
Boost 19
EGT 1015

Put the pedal to the wood and boost would hit 26# and it felt like i was in the Flintstones truck it would get there just took forever.

This is only day one of the VGT re-learn so i will drive it for another few days and give you all another update.

Hmm this is the kind of input I was waiting on. The stock tune thing may have something to do with that though.

I'm not worried YET.. read a similar thread from another member who said it took his truck several trips and miles for the computer to figure out what had happened and also i forgot to add that i went with a MBRP 4" turbo back no cat with muffler exhaust and back to the OE filter. Also havent had the ime yet to install my new SCT tuner yet and just wanted to see what it did stock first. I have an Edge Juice w/attitude CS installed now that i have left on stock...for now

I waited till well over 100miles to floor it. Mine would cough everytime you let off the throttle as well. Didn't matter how much throttle you gave it or how easy you let off. It takes it a good while to line out but it does seem to run better. I have noticed on the stock file, it doesn't care to hit 1000* egt climbing a hill at 50mph in OD/lockup. Mine on flat ground at 65mph/ no wind seems to be around 600-630.

I changed it back to stock from the srl to see if that was causing the bluish/whitish smoke at takeoff. I'm gonna give it another couple weeks and if this keeps up, see about getting it fixed. That should be more than enough time to clean out whatever was leftover that's burning off. It seems like it's taking more and more throttle to do it compared to yesterday, but we'll see.

Heck, even the stock file seems to be fun to drive now.

Mine does not produce any smoke at all or cough. I am going to swap out my tuner tomorrow and see what that does. The shop that did my work Dynomite Diesel had some concerns with the turbo and they too thought it was gutless but when i mentioned the required "re-learn" period they thought that made sense too. The EGT's however have me a little concerned but i am holding off on judgment til i have put some miles on it

Grey smoke on start up is kinda normal for a tuned truck. That is just unburned fuel left in the cylinder. As long as it is just a puff.

He wasn't talking about that smoke being at start up. He's talking about every time he accellerates from a stop, it puffs out a little light grey/white-ish smoke. My stage 1 did the same thing and cleared up in a couple days.
