Exhaust idea , Opinions

Hey everyone i was thinking instead of getting an exhaust sytem welding a 3.5 race ready before the cat and putting on that an electric cut out on the dump part then running 3.5 0r 4inch pipe possibly out before the rear tire . The race ready is $35 the elect cut out is $200 , it should cost $300-$350 max . Then i can run my stock exhaust for when i want it to be quiet and open the race pipe when i want to screw around , when open actually both the race pipe and the stocker would be flowing . Doing this would prevent me from having to replace the Cat for the yearly NY inspections which include Emisions .

i have a feeling the cut out would be in the open position all the time with the exception of about 20 minutes a year while at the dmv inspection

i thought cut outs were not allowed, or is that just gassers ? or am I way off.

i've heard they are illegal only if they can be activated from inside the cab

x2. My 3.5 to 4" MBRP sounds awesome! Quiet at idle(whistles like crazy though), cruise, and upon light acceleration. It's only loud when I'm on it.

same here. sounds awesome and it's only loud when i want it to be !
