FBD budget stainless exhaust
Any owners of the $345 system? I was wondering how loud it was compared to stock and how the installation went. Is there a place to put the cat without cutting? Or is it straight piped all the way from the turbo to the muff? The reason I ask is my truck is licensed in Texas, so I need to be able to put the cat back every year for inspection.
I was leaning towards the Banks system since it's supposed to be quiet and the fact it's designed for a cat, so you can just remove the delete pipe and stick the factory cat back in to get it inspected. I really like the price of the FBD system though. |

You can bolt the cat in or use the delete pipe. You can also get a free flowing muff with them to keep the noise down a bit. I have put a few of them in and they are very easy to install. The hardest thing will be the down pipe. Once you get that, the rest is a breeze.

The kit he's advertising for $345 comes with a muffler. It doesn't say anything about whether there's a place to put the cat, though.
My main concern is noise level. Nobody on here has bought the $345 409SS kit? |

I seen the stainless kit on a truck out here and it looks nice If you don't want loud don't straight pipe it. Mine is obnosiouly loud when I put my peddle to the flor. Why do you have to have your cat on for inspection? Want county do you live in because I'm in Orange county w/an 04 6.0 and I don't have to have the cat for inspection.

I bought the kit. Install was very easy the downpipe was the only thing that took any time. Yes your cat bolts in or you can buy a cat delete pipe. Mine somehow was hollow when it went back on.
The noise with it is very low when you get on it good you can hear it but its not annoying. At idle mine just has a ton of air flowing but no real noise. You will be very happy with this exhaust from my experience with it. If you need a cat delete pipe I have one that I bought but didnt use. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm really thinking about ordering one of these. I was going to go with Banks, but these are just so much cheaper. I guess if it's too loud, I could always just get the Banks muffler.
The truck is licensed in Harris county. They're really anal about emissions in Houston. They really look the vehicle over closely and use the mirrors to look underneath and everything. ksfirefighter, how much do you want for that cat delete pipe? I might take it off your hands if I get the FBD kit. I just dropped 900 bucks on tires, so I need to recover a week or so before spending more money. |

Are the hangers welded onto the pipe or are they intigrated into the clamps?
