FICM Upgrade
My 04 6.0's ficm is going out fast. 108,000 miles sct tuned, looney tune, and I want to know if I want the swamps ficm or BDP ficm. And will I need to update the looney tune for the ficm? With the BDP ficm that can change how do you change that? Is the ficm hard to replace? Never done it or ever tried to.

My recommendation is get the new unit from Bullet-Proof and never worry about doing it again. BPD has redesigned the power supply and heat sink, hands down the best of the options on the market to solve this issue.
They have a great PDF on the installation on their website, what they ship is the power supply board and heat sink, you install it to your current bottom haft and logic board (retains all your current programming). Pretty simple, even for those who don't work on electronics much. Just make sure you take your time, and don't brake any of the plugs, or bend a pin. NOTE: Upon reading Dave's post, I forgot to mention that BPD doesn't replace the older 7 pin connections. Last edited by colo_dually; 08-11-2012 at 06:18 PM. |
