Most Highway Fuel Efficient Custom Tune

Not sure if I'm asking something that's been talked about already. All the tune threads I find are asking about power, not fuel efficiency.

Looking for a custom tune for my SCT X3. I have the Looney tune from Vivian @ QT, but that dropped my cruise control highway mileage from 18 to 16 mpg. Not good, if you ask me.

I'm going to be making a 500 km ( 310 mi) highway drive twice a week until November, so it would be great to get a really efficient highway tune soon. Maybe even 20 mpg?

Please make your suggestions. What's the best out there for highway efficiency??

Well I just made a 2800 mile trip at 80-85 mph. With Two of my buddy's and the whole back of the truck full of luggage. We averaged anywhere from 20.4 mpg to the best tank at 21.57 mpg. I dd srlxx and that is what I used for the first 1300 miles to our destination. The 1300 miles on the way home I loaded idp's xtreme x. Got about 20 the whole way. Srlxx is the best tune I have have ever. Is your truck studded?

Yes my truck is studded, and the egr is deleted.

Where or who is that Srlxx tune from? And is it designed to be a street performance tune? Or a highway tune?

The common trend is the higher the HP, the better the fuel economy when you drive it as such. There isn't really a tune marketed as a highway economy tune due to that.

With studs and an EGR deletion, you don't have any tuning limits other than what your fuel system will support (assuming you are monitoring the truck).

The SRLxx, is the more aggressive version of Matt's Street Race Lite.

What I've seen with my truck is about a 8-10% improvement with my Street file from IDP, and about a 12-14% improvement with X-Race. The numbers aren't the best, due to my truck weight, 4.30 gears, and I cruise at 65-68mph. Hence I only state the improvements.

One thing I have noticed, is my mileage goes to junk when I run it on cruise control. As such, I've discontinued the practice of it.

That tune is from Matt @ gearhead automotive performance. It is a GREAT dd tune.

I'm at about 16 on the hwy but I have a lot going on so I'm not too concerned. I'm hoping some live tuning can get me up to 17-18 mpg on the hwy.

Funny you mention that. You can get better mileage not using cruise control. I recommend srlxx. Matt at gearhead automotive. (979) 703-7338.

Quick Tricks does have a mileage tune...

"Economy Only - We have found that most people get the best fuel mileage from our Looney tune, as long as they are not always on the pedal. This file is designed in the image of the Looney but does not contain performance parameters. You can save 3-6 mpg. With this file you cannot tow at all. (40-50rwhp)"

But I don't have any experience with it, so can't comment on how it works.

How much should I gain from not using cruise? I use it a ton, just cause I like staying at a constant speed lol.

I notice as a loss of 1.5-2 mpg with few hills, on a truck that got 14.5 mph stock at best. I haven't got numbers on cruise control after I tuned.

Im running matts srl tune with a durastroke stg1 turbo on 38x15.50 I just got about 19mpg on a trip to nags head this past weekend. I've been told though that I might be able to get more from vivian tunes.
