PHP FICM tuning 6.0l
I continually searched for reviews on the FICM tune and i couldnt seem to find a lot of information on it. So here is my review.
I called PHP and asked Bill to tune my OEM FICM 48v with the atlas 40. Not only did he offer to do set an appointment the same day (i only live 40 minutes away - 30 minutes to get back ) He also answered any questions that i had with in depth responses. A large concern that i inquired about was the ability to tow with the Atlas 40. Bill said that it would not be an issue. the truck drove entirely differently. The truck seems as if it has power now prior to the turbo building boost. I always felt i couldnt pull out into traffic without loading the turbo first... that is no longer the case. With the additional power at less throttle, it requires less fuel to move the truck to cruising speed which equates to higher mileage. For what its worth, the MPG on the dash went from 13.6 which is pretty accurate to my hand calculation up to 17. these are both my city statistics. I do not drive hwy. For any one contemplating having their FICM tuned by PHP I give two large thumbs up!! |

Since my FICM is showing voltage I'm not liking (saw 45.5v today driving) when it gets rebuilt I'm going to have to get a FICM tune. I was thinking the atlas 40. Truck is currently stock and I get the feeling if I went with the higher HP tunes, the tranny wouldnt like that extra power with stock shift programing.

So I have unfortunate news. I have monitored my FICM voltage for the past 10 months and the truck performed with 47v to 48.5v. As mentioned in the original post, i had my FICM tuned yesturday and drove the truck home. By that; this morning was my first cold start (ambient temp was ~85) and my voltage dropped to 45.5v at its lowest point but avg'd around 46v's until warm. once warm it worked at 47v-48.5v. It has never done this prior.
Needless to say I now have to send my FICM out for repairs now. On a better note, my MPG as a more accurate reading at 14.8 mpg. Still a major upgrade from 13.6. I will say that I still fully recommend getting the FICM tuned but do be prepared if worse comes to worse like it did in my situation. |

Good data point, are you sending the FICM out?
Have you considered getting the haft from Bullet-Proof Diesel? |
