what combo works best?
Boss just picked up an '05 F350, CC, drw, auto, all the bells and whistles with 78k for $19000. He's looking to spend about $1200-1500 on mods mostly for mpg increase and for the obvious 0-120 times too. Being the truck will be used hard for a landscaping excavating company, he does want more mpg, power, but to do all the above safely so he can get 300k on the engine. I know everyone is saying SCT but he is a guy that needs to shift on the fly.
So far I am gonna order 4" turbo back, no cat no muffler... will that cause any codes? ((remember a thread about that and now can't find it)) Checking prices on air intake but when I get a chance might see how hard a DIY would be....... any input? As far as programmers it would have a to be a on the fly type. I could write a book about his street racing and dropping a loaded trailer on the road side to line up, or chains getting hooked up at job sites, Walmart/bar/grocery store parking lots, weddings, or just about anywhere someone dares to drive a Chevy or Dodge and think he/she is the chit! Any advise would be appreciated!! Last edited by adrenalinejunky; 10-14-2007 at 07:10 AM. |

Dont buy any chips like that off of Ebay -- the warranty and customer service will be hard to get. But order from someone off of the site
also -- get GUAGES! he needs guages before he tunes anything! AND as far as the intake, spend his money on something else or a better filter, because the intake is good for more horsepower than he'll put up... Also - get a roll top type cover -- that will help mileage when its rolled out, but he can still use the bed for landscaping! |

edge has some very reputable shift on the fly chips that come with monitoring devices so you can get the guages and chip all in one
banks has a neat 6 gun , 6position chip, with a nifty lil pda for monitoring also another option which i have experince with is the quadzilla xzillaraider and commander, it will ad up to 160hp, and the commander also has built in guages i have never heard of anyone throwin a code due to an exhaust system but a tech told me it is possible but also harmless, like blue said save your money on the intake the stocker on the 6.0s flow very well and filter better than any aftermarket you can do a zoodad mod http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/6-0...-new-post.html, which will give you better air flow to the filter and its free |

ok so I have seen the zoodad mod mentioned but didn't know what it was... I am sure I have all the needed items in the welding closet!!
What about a drop in KnN? I did forget to mention guages or if needed, but are they really needed? the thing to watch most is the EGTs right? wouldn't a free flowing 4" take care of that? btw I just got back from taking the rollback to pick the boss up in his 68 'stang.... blew a rod right out the oil pan. Said he didn't care, lost $500 to the ricer about 2 months ago, won $1000 tonight. Said he's gotta get the 'stroke worked asap! btw his pony runs 12.60s all night long not sure you're going to get a 8000 lb truck to do the same on $1500 ... haha

stay away from k and n , i was a fool and got one before i found this place they are the least in all aspects of a filter, a 4" will lower egts but with a chip and towing they will get up quick so its best to eyeball em, along with boost and trans temp
to do the zoodad all you need is a dremel tool |

|
YOU NEED GUAGES BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!
OTHERWISE while your boss is racing the ricers and whatnot, he'll melt his turbo or damage his engine! Boost - Trans Temp - and EGT |
