Duramax intercooler, and MTW turbos

I had a thought today, since I'm upgrading to the MTW1. If the turbo is that good, why wouldn't the intercooler be just as good? Thoughts, experience? I KNOW it can be modded by someone to fit our PSD's

The 6.0 intercooler is extremely similar in flow and heat dissipation (if not better due to more exposed surface area) to the DMax intercoolers. The DMax guys change there stockers out around the 600HP mark just like the 6.0 guys. The biggest restriction you have is your stock intake manifold. It's been proven again and again that a ported manifold is much more productive at lowering intake temps, EGT's and providing more RWHP than an intercooler.

It's great that you guys are thinking out of the box though! Thats what brings the next great product out.

i was going to say the same thing. ive seen a dmax innercooler and a pstroke cooler and honestly id keep my stocker. its bigger and like it was stated id do a ported intake man before i did the innercooler

That's what I was looking for. Pictures online are pretty useless. I wonder if there is some DIY info on porting the intake manifold. I'd imagine to do it right you' have to cut the thing in half . If I'm in there pulling a turbo, the intake job isn't a stretch

not trying to hijack guys but does anyone have any idea if a 6.4 intake manifold is a big restriction in the air intake system? I am thinking about a ported intake.

The 6.4 intake flows more than the 6.0. It's been done before on a "track only" truck. They had to relocate the alternator, and fab up a custom intake elbow.

JUGERNAUT toying with the idea, gotta come up with a alternator bracket.
