Got my sct!
I just got my SCT i bought it used from a friend for 275.00! Not a bad deal but when I hook it up it says my ecm is not supported. I tried calling sct but they had already closed for the day. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

well did your friend buy it with canned tunes or was it a custom tuner?

it may have to be unlocked for it to be used on your truck.

It's stil VIN locked to your friend' truck. You need to unlock it and most likely you will need new tunes that work with your programming strategy.

It had canned tunes. How would I unlock it?

i believe you will need to hook it up to your computer Via a printer cable, you need to have the SCT software installed and when it is recognized ny the computer it will bring up a window where you will find a button to "unlock" the unit. the software is free to download from the SCT web page.

The software is downloading as we speak. Dont get upset but I read the manual. I know i broke a man law. But it was for the good of my truck so I have no remorse!

I'm fairly new to the whole SCT thing also, but I believe it's done with the LiveLoad program. If you don't have it already, you can download it at www.SCTFlash.com. The Xcal connects to your computer via a standard USB cable.
Your friend did return his truck to stock prior to giving the unit didn't he? |

i sure hope he did. when you are done it should be able to read your PCM, let us know how things go.
