DD solenoid

For those of you that have put in a modded DD solenoid, did you have to have your tuner adjust anything or did the tranny relearn to accomadate the added fluid? I just installed one, have about 200 miles on the tranny now, running SRL+, and the 3-5 shifts are way to firm now. Before I was getting a huge flair from 3-4

On another subject, I went with gearheads tunes because everyone raves about the drivabilty and shifting of the trans (I ran his tunes on my 7.3 for 30,000 miles with now complaints) But the SRL seems to shift way to early--shifts are perfect at WOT but at half throttle in a DD situation it shifts from 2-3 really quick and down shifts to quick when the motor can easily hold the gear and pull through.

Has anyone else had any of these issues. I'm not sure if its just me or the fact that my trans has 150,000 miles and something is up with it(not able to handle the extra power). Thanks

all you gotta do it tell Matt at what point you want the shifts to happen. He can raise the shift points to your liking.

I did try to have ID adjust tuning for the solenoid but the two tunes I got weren't quite as fast or shifted as well as the tune I was using before those two and install of solenoid. Ended up calling TSD on the recommendation that another member had worked out some tuning quirks with ChrisB on the solenoid. Bought the spd and spd w/early lock and noticed a difference for the better.

The fact that your 3-5 shift is "way too firm" means the soleniod is working correctly, it fixed the huge flair you had.

Yes, the solenoid definitely working correctly! Darsey--that's mainly what I was looking for, someone who had worked through this already with a tuner. I love the SRL tune--but that's all I have had on the truck (just got the truck two months ago) I plan on giving matt a call, but also want to try out some different tunes as well. TSD was next on my list, and if ChrisB has worked out some of the fine tuning I'll try tunes from him.
