Talking noob question

ok I am buying a 2005 6.0 F250... what "tuner" or programmer is best??? I want to be able to switch on the fly so I guess a "knob" of some sort is what i need. I also would like to know if the edge insight is okay to monitor vital signs? I dont mind adding the egt probe and such.. The truck has egr delete, apr studs, oil cooler upgrade, and other stuff so it has the start of good stuff done to it but i need a "little" more power and i want it safely and to monitor it! I know custom tunes are best but who is the best to get one from?

I think 6.0s use sct live wire tuner. But with custom tunes not sct tunes.

Stay away from "shift on the fly" power. Your trans will not like you after awhile.

For the 6.0, your best bet is the SCT tuner with custom tunes. You have a choice of the X3,SF3, Livewire, TSX, iTSX, and Innivative Diesel # 3015ID.

Most go with the X3 and use the Edge Insight CS/CTS for monitoring the motor. Yes, SCT has the Livewire and TSX that can monitor and hold tunes, but the Livewire and TSX is outdated and can't monitor as much as the Edge Insight CS/CTS.

Stick around and read up as much as your brain can handle, you'll catch on real quick.

As mentioned, stay away from shift on the fly tuning, unless you intend to trash the transmission. Its good to 550RWHP, with proper tuning with an SCT.

Here's the starting point I suggest - Monitor system and learn what to look for:
Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD.
Bullet Proof as you can, and as the truck is telling you via that monitor:
Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD.
Then worry about tuning and modifying these trucks, they have great potential, but you have to address the motor issues first:
Write Up: Power Potential of the 6.0L PSD

Let us know if you have questions.
