Tow Tunes.
So I was reading the tunes from DJ's again, and notice that they can add "Jake brake" to there tunes. and it says it works from the exhaust back pressure in your truck.
So do they mean, what the truck is making for back pressure, or if you have an actual Exhaust brake? I understand the difference from a jake brake to a exhaust brake on a real semi. just not to sure what they mean for the 6.0L and also does anyone have an exhaust brake on there 6.0L. Anyone know anything about them? I have the X3 coming. any day now. and I notice it works on 7.3's Intercooled and non intercooled. So once I hook it up to my truck, thats it right. its mated to my truck. there would be know way I could hook it up to my dads truck and get a tune for his truck from someone? or would he have to buy a chip too? |

The "jake brake" feature uses the turbo to create backpressure. It opens the vanes to create an obstruction for the exhaust that's trying to escape.
As far as tuner compatability, the X3 will work on both 6.0 and 7.3, but only one at a time. There is no way that you could tune your truck then load tunes for a 7.3 while you are tuned. The tuner has to be unlocked to switch vehicles and you can only do that 5 times before it has to go back to SCT to be reset. |

I thought it used the Exhaust Backpressure Valve as an exhaust brake? I bet it may be different on my 7.3L b/c my turbo veins aren't variable
![]() but for your 6.0 -- 720 has ya hooked up |

next question.
Is it noticeable? Noise? does it noticably slow the truck down? anyone using it? Anyone tryed it? |

I haven't had a chance to talk to Eric about mine yet, but I don't really notice a difference. Delaware King Ranch and some others have had different experiences than me.

I used it for awhile on my rig. Eric gave my both to try the Tow Aggress and Tow Brake. I have to say I like the tow Aggress more. I could tell the Tow brake was working because as the truck would slow down in the 30 or under mpg dropping gears my boost would come up 2-4 PSI where under stock tow mode or tow agress there is no boost present. But the engine braking didn't feel as strong as just the plain tow aggressive or stock. I dropped Eric a note on this wondering if you could combine the 2 braking profiles to get a real nice strong engine break that is allot more than stock, but no comment back, but I have to say at the same time I was buying the Xtreem Street too and will be towing less over the winter. :-)
