First tuning experience...
Well, over the last 3 weeks I've been playing around with my first tuner, the Superchips 1706 Max Micro. I got it for a deal...didn't pay some crazy $400 dollar price, no worries. It's kind of a pre-lim before I go the SCT route. I've been running the Performance setting...supposed to be 105 HP/160 FT LBS. The only clear running I got around here is on the Interstate. So I've been doing runs there. Been getting a nice little cloud of smoke with the Performance setting. These are the specs that I see at WOT running through all the gears up to about 100 mph: Pyro max 1250, 30-32 psi boost, max rpm 4000 or so. Feels like a whole new vehicle. I used to have a Silverado pickup for hauling and a '93 C4 Vette for fun stuff...now I feel like I have the best of both worlds in a 4 ton hunk of steel. Only thing that has me scratchin my head is that the truck doesn't feel much more powerful at slow in town speeds...it seems to climb hills a little easier, but I definitely can't tell a real power difference unless the boost is on and I'm getting past 1/2 or more throttle. Anyway
This is cool stuff. The SCT will put an even bigger grin on my face I'm sure.

are you using analog gauges for your readings on the boost and egt's ???
i see max boost around 30psi w/my sct, but only in higher gears with locked t/c, around town most boost is usually around 22-24psi. as far as egt, there is a lot more power to be made because my LOW street settings on the sct will hit 1250 in a heartbeat, and can reach 1500 on my PERFORMANCE setting i can hit 1400 easily on the street without even trying. and the thing is a rocket. even around town, it is MUCH more responsive even with very little throttle input. |
