I LOVE the sound of my MBRP muffler... The straight piped jet engine sound just didn't appeal to me.

My experience... had a muffler, cut it out, then two days later, welded it back on. Sounded pretty much the same when just putting around. At 1800-2000rpm it had some resonation, no big deal. At about 2600rpm...LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS! If you tow, get a muffler for sure.

From the performance aspect, you don't gain anything from a 5" system. Your downpipe will still be 3.5" with MBRP, that limits how fast flow will go through the pipe. What you will noticed between the two is tone, the 5" system produces a deeper tone.

I have a 3.5" downpipe, factory CAT, and the 5" cat-back system. Works well for me, and has a deep tone. Its only obnoxious when I get on it.

IF you want the pipes to still look good after soem time, get the 304. The 409 will get a nasty rust coating after a couple months. DOesn't hurt anything, just looks bad. And the 5'' has a slightly deeper tone vs 4''. THat's the only difference in the systems.
