PHP Gryphon FICM rollback review

Just wanted to give a quick review of the PHP FICM rollback. I went ahead and sprung for the Gryphon programmer that I can keep for a handful of reasons. I was unaware that it came in the form of an Edge Evolution type box (without the Edge label). Bonus! Now I can monitor many other parameters that I never cared to install a gauge for!

As far as the performance aspect: So far, absolutely wonderful! Couldn't be happier. Once upon a time, I had the VXCF4 strategy, and was "upgraded" to the VXCF9. I know I've gotten used to it over the last couple of years, but I don't remember my truck ever running as well as it does now. I went straight for the Hercules tune, and it is very impressive. Throttle response is right-on, the truck feels "light on its feet". There is definitely an economy improvement as well. I know the dash isn't accurate, but for my normal driving where it usually says 12.8, it now says 15.5. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to get back what they know they lost in their 6.0 with Ford's update, plus some.

What did you have in to it total $$$ wise? I've got the VXCF7, sound like the VXCF4 is worth the roll back

i wanted to do the ECM rollback to get an early non inferred strategy, but eric said i didn't have to rollback the ECM...he told me he can do the rollback in the tune. My original strategy when stock is VXAP2B2...now when tuned the strategy is VXAN0N2. So you do not need to go through getting a tuner to do a rollback. However Eric did tell me that this will only work if you already have a tuned FICM. If you don't have a tuned FICM then you'll hafta get a tuner to do the ECM rollback.

Thanks!! That's good to know. I was gonna have my ECM rolled back with the Gryphon. I'll have to give Vivian a call (unlimited tunes for life), then buy new tunes from Matt and Eric. I might even try the SPD!!

As this is good news for you, I wonder how much of a benefit I am going to see when I get mine because I already have the VXCF4 strategy.
