Bought a used sct just have a few questions.

So as the title says I bought a used sct tuner. The tuner came off a 04 6.0 and the tuner is unmarried. My question is do I have to get new custom tunes or can I use the ones on it? My truck is a 05, I am new to sct tuners thanks guys

No you can't, it will lock the truck out. Most of the '03-'04 can interchange, also the 05-07 can interchange. But you can't use the 03-04 on the 05-07 and vise versa. The two different group years use different tuning.

Hey man thanks for the quick reply, i didn't think I could use them just wanted to be sure. But I would be able to use the canned tunes because it uses my trucks strategy?

Yes you can use the canned tunes. Just be sure to update the SCT device with the latest Firmware/Tune Revision before you try it.


The reason for updating the SCT is, the older Firmware/Tune Revision may not be in the SCT device to support your truck's current ECM strategy.

Yea I updated the tuner, now I didn't use the update firmware option because when I used the automatically check for update option it said it was updating the firmware
