Welcome to the .org!!! The SCT would be the better of those two choices!
as for voiding your warranty - Ford would have to prove that it CAUSED the malfunction/break to try to void your warranty. as for exhaust -- you will have a 4" DP to a 5" exhaust -- MBRP, Gus at Farm Boys Diesel, Magnaflow, or Silverline all make good exhausts -- but usually can't beat the price of Gus's exhausts! Welcome to the .org!!! |

to the ORG!! Brant about summed it up. I personally love my FBD exhaust but that is my opinion. You will get a million of them on here

the sct is the way to go... stay away from any other brand of programmer, none are on the same level as sct for compatibility with your truck.
as far as warranty work, technically, if you run a tuner and you damage your engine you are NOT covered. however, even trucks with no programmers have had engine problems, so who's to say it was the tuner fault. bottom line though, remover ALL traces of the programmer before taking it to ford or they will most likely find a reason to void your warranty, regardless of it caused the failure or not.. adding a tuner is reason enough for them to cancel you.. |

so what is the biggest difference with the sct? and which of there product is the best? the livewire or the xcal?
|
|
|||
|
the difference is the custom tunning you can get out of sct will be for yur truck only not a generic file

the SCT has better "canned" tunes and also allows for custom tunes...
the Livewire is the guages and tuner all in one -- the xcal is just the tuner, would need to add pillar guages or a monitor like the quadzilla commander. as for the voiding your warranty - they could try to, but you could fight it and make them have to prove it was your tuner -- as Lv said, some trucks earlier broke w/o any tuning... but it is a risk to add any tuner -- thats why guages are soooo important to keep an eye on your vehicle to keep from damaging it |

I just go an Xcal2 and would most likely go with the Xcal3 if I had it to do over again. The LiveWire has some awesome features, but they still haven't perfected it yet. You can't go wrong with a good set of gauges and either of the Xcals.
As far as SCT vs other programmers, like Stump said SCT guys can customize the tunes to your liking and to accomodate your truck and it's own little querks. Custom tuning also gives total transmission control which the one size fits all programmers can't do. There is even some end user adjustability on shifting for the auto tranny. The other cool thing is the possibilities are nearly endless with custom tuning. If you step up to water/meth injection or Nitrous you tuning vendor can write you a tune specific to what your mods are. |

There's no difference in the tuning between the xcal and livewire. The livewire just has instrumentation built in to it. If you go with the xcal3, it's a good idea to install some gauges. At the minimum I would get an EGT gauge. I need to follow my own advice, though. LOL I haven't installed mine yet. I don't run the hot tunes right now because of that, though.
Go with the SCT. I asked the same questions you were asking before I ordered mine, and virtually everyone that had other programmers wished they would have bought the SCT in the first place. Give Vivian at DJ's Diesel a call. ::: DJ's Perfromance :: Home ::: She is great. She answered about 1000 dumb questions I had before ordering. LOL |

We had 3 people answer the same question at the same time. Talk about service. LOL
