500 HP 6.0?
I was wondering what it woukd take to make my 6.0 into a 500hp monster?

not very much you can get there with tunes, exhaust, turbo, ficm tune and some luck

Gonna need it studded too. A fuel system wouldn't hurt either. Oh and a fat checkbook.

You can roll the dice and make 500RWHP with custom SCT tuning (race level files), FICM Tuning (Atlas80 or Hercules from PHP), Exhaust (4" Turbo Back), and one of Madpowerstroke's Stage 2 turbos. For supporting modifications you will need to get Headstuds installed, as with any performance plan. You may or may not brake that plane, but you will be reliable and streetable.
If you want to brake 500RWHP for certain, that what I just mentioned and add a set of 175cc/75% Injectors, an S&B Intake, and the Stage 2 turbo. That setup will definitely get you over the 500RWHP mark. Last edited by colo_dually; 06-12-2012 at 04:07 AM. |

500 hp on stock sticks has yet to be proven. Unless you upgrade your injectors, you are just taking a shot at getting there, but won't make 500 for sure. Like was said, a set of 155s or 175 with a matching turbo, should get you into the low 5s.

You need custom tuning, fuel (injectors & fuel system), and air (turbo). I did have an Airaid because the bigger (175s) injectors required a little more air than the stock intake could give it. I laid down 517 ponies WITHOUT FICM tuning. Just think if I had had it! I needed more air,( as the picture below depicts! LOL I had plenty of fuel but ran out of air. Good luck in your quest for more power. If you dyno, have your tuner write you a tune that that is locked in direct drive for the dyno. It will keep it from downshifting.

I would think the stage 2 from madpowerstroke, 62 non vgt, or 68pmax and 155's-165's would make it there. Live tuning, or one of the tuners who have made some new steps in tuning and a php ficm tuner would max out the injectors. Before any of that, I would highly suggest getting the tranny done up before the big power. It's all fun and games until some one snaps an input shaft or grenades a convertor.
If you are like me and have more money than sense, just build a compound setup with 205/100's and skip this 500hp nonsense altogether.
