The new SCT will recognize the vehicle's tuned, if memory serves, which will prevent you from tuning it again. If I am wrong someone may chime in there.

If it would me, I'm first make sure my old programmer isn't simply misplaced, because what I'm going to recommend is going to suck some mileage out of the truck. You are going to either find a Ford dealership to reflash the latest strategy on your truck (which will give you a CEL with ECT/EOT is out of spec by Ford's standard, cycle turbo vanes at idle, and drop your gas mileage a bit), or you need to find a shop that can reflash you with an earlier strategy (the earlier the better, there's some threads on which of these early strategies are preferred).

Then have new tunes written for the newly flashed strategy. You won't be able to use any of the custom tunes you had earlier, due to they are locked to the previous SCT serial number.

Just give SCT a call and ask them. But seeing how they strongly recommend backing up your stock tune to your computer, you more than likely need a flotation device...

What is your current strat? Maybe we (the .org) can send you a stock strat and you can tune your truck with it from your new SCT tuner if it will let you. I have one I can send from an 05 with the VXFC9

This is actually a good idea (I think). I would be more than happy to send my stock file to you. It is actually a good strategy VXCF4xx. I am just not sure if it would work with an 04 truck because only certain strategies (if I am correct here) will work with certain years.

You might be able to buy a new tuner from a SCT tune writer and explain the situation, if you happen to remember the strategy hex code, they might be able to send you a stock file thru email, and either the tune writer or SCT can set you up with a recovery file to pull out the custom tune and load in a stock tune.

The other option is have the dealer reflash or contact PHP about having getting a stock file and rolled back. With PHP there is a waiting list for the remote programmer, or you can send in your ECM to PHP to reflash/roll back.

He will still need to contact SCT for a recovery file that allows him to pull off the stock file from his PC to the SCT device.

Call Bill at PHP and sign up for remote pcm rollback, you can do FICM at the same time if you want.

I forgot to return my old truck back to stock after it was totaled and had a locked sct. They unlocked it for me for free so I could use it on the new truck. They have good customer service, try calling them.
