Need help with tuning and advice
My buddy just bought a silver 2006 CC/SB 6.0L w/ 6" lift on 37" toyos w/ 72,000 miles today. Hes looking for advice for tuning, im very familiar with the 7.3, 6.4 and 6.7 but the 6.0L powerstroke is the one i know least about.
So my questions are, What programmer? What Egr delete?( i know is a must) And what other mods are necesary? Advice and tips are apreciated! Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL |

Highly recommend sct, more options for custom tuning, egr delete.. River city, performance machine, flo pro. They all serve the same function
Also recommend oil cooler replacement, coolant filtration and stay on top of his maintenance. |

for programming with a custom tune, EGR delete is definitely a must if you live in a state where you can get by with it (I have the Sinister Kit on my truck, $300 shipped to my door and it fit perfect), On top of the things listed above I recommend the Blue Spring upgrade to bump up his fuel pressure. That should keep him from having to buy a set of injectors anytime soon. There are a ton of other little mods that can be done while doing the EGR delete too (upgraded STC fitting, turbo drain tube, turbo oil line, etc.). Bottom line, SCT tuned with exhaust and EGR delete and it will be a fun truck to drive. |

He might want to look into an edge insight or some other style of monitoring system. It is very important to keep an eye on the EOT and ECT along with everything else the insight monitors! Just my .02 cents hope it helps

Thanks for all the tips and advice! Ill pass the info to my buddy.
Should he go with a strait pipe exhaust? If so 4"or 5"? Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL |

That is really up to him! I run the MBRP 4" turbo back but I know some guys that run the MBRP 5" turbo back no real performance gain in the 5" but they do have a deeper sound. But I love my 4" sounds good for me!

Bullet Proof Diesel egr cooler is a good option if he cannot delete where he lives.

First and foremost is a monitor like the Edge Insight CS/CTS, and get to know what is goin on under that hood before he proceeds to modify the truck.
Second, with the EGR delete, its not always nessacary, the first time he sees the deltas of ECT/EOT get near 15* he can go in and rebuild the oil cooler and solve the EGR cooler as he feels the need. This can either be a block, delete, or upgrade from Bullet Proof Diesel (I recommend the upgrade to keep the owner out of trouble down the road as emission laws get stricter). As for tunes, the SCT hands down from the standpoint of the tunes are custom to that trucks strategy, modifications, and performance goals of the owner. And the SCT will actively tune the transmission, its what I've used for the last 25,000 miles without complaint. Here is a thread on Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L: Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD. |
