Need help choosing a programmer

Ok here's what I got.... 2006 6.0 ccsb 4x4 running 35x12.50x18's on a 4.5 inch lift kit. I want to get a programmer to get better fuel economy. I don't tow often and when I do it's light(18 foot aluminum boat). I don't really need more power or anything I just want my stops at the fuel pump to be a little less often. I would like to have the "smoke show" option but that's not that important. I'm budgeting myself to about $500 or less. What's the best option for the money in your opinion? Experiences? Actual numbers on mileage increases would be great! Thanks in advance!

Yes sct is the wat to go and for smoke most members frown apon it even thought that wat almost every person wants to see when the buy there first diesel but sct is Awsome

Hands down the best programmer for a 6.0 is a SCT with custom tunes on it. You can have several different people write you an Economy tune or a Smoke tune. Although the main 4 tune writers will probably not write you a smoke tune, there are other writers that will like MPT. Also, a Performance tune is probably your best option because it's going to give more mileage when driven mildly and most of them will blow smoke too.

sct with custom like stated above. Get a dodge if you want "smoke show" don't go around giving all the ford guys a bad name because you want to be like all the cummings guys.

All righty then...... Fuel economy and "smoke show"!! Kinda puts that as a oxymoron!!

If your looking to by a used SCT, here is some reading material for you. I recommend that if the used unit has custom tunes already on it from the prior owner, to NOT use them, and get tunes written for your truck and strategy. Using tunes that were not written for your truck may cause your truck to not start.

Thanks for the responses guys. I know the smoke show is definitely the opposite of fuel economy. I can't stand bicycle riders in my way..... I really just need fuel economy.

SCT!! I had an Edge and it is a world of difference with the SCT. runs better, has more power and if I can keep my foot out of it I get (hand calculated) 16.54 mpg as opposes to the 11.68 mpg i was getting with the Edge

So what about the PPE excelerator programmer? Is the sct still better for horsepower and MPG? Because PPE guarantees MPG increases, and has more shows more horsepower than the SCT provides.
