Dashboss, Scangauge, or Edge Insight
Guys, just bought another truck after a few years away from the powerstrokes. 2004 F350 6.0 115K checked out ok from Bulletproof Diesel Certified Installer Mechanic. So I bought it, and like a lot of people am trying to get the gauge thing figured out.
1.)Dashboss intrigues me, has anyone used this thing? 2.) Or would the Insight be a better, but more expensive option? 3.) Or would a scangauge be the better choice? With that being said, I am going SCT with custom tunes eventually once I do the EGR and oil cooler when needed based on the feedback from here. I am also in Philadelphia area if anyone is close by

Edge Insight hands down. It is the only one that can be expanded to monitor more stuff. JMO.

The DashBoss is comparable to the Edge Insight CS/CTS, in some manners the DashBoss has the upper hand, it comes down to your personal needs and wallet. The Dashboss IS EXPANDABLE to monitor external sensors like EGT and fuel psi. Here is some reading material about the DashBoss.
DashBoss monitoring review. I'm about 50 miles west of Philly, right out side of Boyertown, Pa. Last edited by Lilpooh; 05-03-2012 at 07:59 AM. |

I recommend the Edge CS or CTS, reason for this is it tells you 90% of what you need without additional gear. And it can be expanded to cover EGT and Fuel Pressure/Oil Pressure.
I prefer hard wired devices, and gauges for monitoring your truck. The DashBoss isnt' for me. |

I have had Edge and I have Dashboss now. I love the dashboss. It is simple and clear. I would most definatly recommend it to anyone. plus it uses your phone or device so you dont need to leave it in the truck where it could be stolen. and when you turn on the truck the bluetooth is fast at hooking up. you also dont lose any functions on your phone it all works together

My vote would be the Edge Insight CTS. That being said the ScangaugeII is a great tool for the money. They usually run around $170 and will monitor almost all the critical data points on the 6.0L.

Lilpooh, I'm leaning towards the Dashboss, since your close it would be worth the ride to Boyertown if I had issues if that's ok. Do you suggest just the Dashboss to start with or the kit they are selling for 390. Also, any codes you know of?

Your don't want the $390 kit, that is for the gas motor reading A/R for wideband O2. You need to order "ala carte". You will need the DashBoss ($170), and the EGT complete kit ($100). See that, I saved you $100!!!! Now for fuel psi, all you need is a sending unit and metric adapter. The sending unit it $30, and adapter can be bought for around $5. Here is the cheapest sending unit I found, and have been using. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=250799543734 See that!! For $300 you can COMPLETELY monitor your 6.0. |
