hello guys.
i just want to say the site has a wealth of knowledge and experience and i learn something new about the 6.0 everyday. thanks to this site i have installed a scanguage and MBRP 4"TB exhaust. my next thing is a programmer. everything else is stock. my friend is going to give me his Superchips Diesel Flashpaq for 6.0 for free. i know i should wait for the SCT with custom tunes from ID. i have researched what i can and it does tune the transmission as well and the engine. i am not towing anything just using it for daily driving at the moment and watching my deltas like a hawk just to be on the safe side. he had the flashpaq on his 6.0 but he traded it in for a honda pilot claimed he hated paying 100+ for diesel. his loss my gain ![]() should i sell the flashpaq for the SCT or can i just run with the flashpaq. thanks in advance |

Had the flashpaq on my 6.0 when I first bought it. I don't really see a problem running it. I didn't have any issues I had the ie that works for the 99-07 powerstrokes and I sold it to my buddy who has a 7.3 and boy did it really wake his truck up a crap ton but anyways that's a different engine lol. Long as you aren't out being a hot rod all the time it's a decent tuner until you get that sct. Me personally I use edge especially for the monitoring and I'm as pleased with my edge as I was with my superchip but you may not want to get people on here started about sct versus edge, h&s, bully dog and so forth lol but yours was free so run it selling it may only bring 150$ or so as that's not nearly enough for an sct.

I have the max microtuner right now and it works good for dd. I also monitor with edge just to keep a eye on everything

I also ran a Flashpaq on my truck for a while with no problems. Left it on Performance mode all the time too. If he is just giving it to you, then run it!

I would sell it and get an SCT..world of difference!!!
Think about the power you will be missing out on while we cruise with our SCT tuners ![]() Plus the MOST important part...We wont need new trannies soon.. ![]() (not saying you might not be ok...But I personally wouldn't take the chance |

The Performance setting is going to give the best mpg when driven conservatively. The main things you need to monitor are exhaust gas temperature, transmission temp, oil temp and coolant temp (you want to watch these and make sure they stay within 15 degrees of each other at a constant 65mph cruise), FICM voltage (want to make sure it never drops below 48 volts or it's a sign it's getting weak), and Fuel Pressure (want to make sure it stays above 45psi or you can damage your injectors). If your engine oil and engine coolant temps are more than 15 degrees apart then it's a sign that your oil cooler is clogged and your going to want to change it before it causes the EGR cooler to rupture and in the end blow a head gasket. The easiest way to monitor all this stuff is with an Edge CS or CTS. Do some research on here and learn how these motors work. It's going to be cheaper on you in the long run if you learn it ahead of time. Bottom line, I think you will be amazed at how much power difference a tune will make on your truck. And hard as it is to believe once you've felt the power of the Superchip, the custom tunes on an SCT are even more power.
