SCT Custom tuning
Hey guy's on fleabay there is a listing for STC Sf3 tuners with 3 canned tunes and three custom tunes supplied by Morepowertuning. Has anyone had any experience with said custom tuning and should I just buy the tuner and use another custom tuner or is this custom tuner proven to supply quality tunes?

I wouldn't risk the custom tuning on any used SCT. A couple of reasons for this, first you don't know what strategy the tunes were written for. Could raise a lot of electronic havok with your truck. Second you don't know what the mods were for the truck when the tunes were written. A small investment of soild tunes customized to your truck, is worth the piece of mind down the road.

If the tuning is at time of purchase, you should buy the tuner from whomever you getting tuning from. You usually get a package deal that way. I thought you were buying a used tuner for some reason.
I have no direct experiance with MPT, so hopefully someone will chime in here. |

Like already mentioned, get tunes written for your truck.
If the price is right, you could always buy the used unit, then get tunes written for your truck. I wouldn't pay more than $275 for a used X3/SF3. The minimum 3 package custom tune runs $100, so that puts you at $375. Make sure the SCT is unlocked AND has unlocks left. Here is some reading material on buying a used SCT. What to look for when buying used SCT for 6.0 I made a short video of what/how to check locks and unlocks left. |

Dang I type slow!!
I personally don't have their tunes, but other members who have tried them say, "they are ok", but then they try one of the well known tune writers, and it's game over!!! MPT tunes just don't cut it. |

Yes you can load other tune writers custom tunes on it, basically after your PC is set up with Liveload software from SCT, you'll connect the SCT to your PC and load in any three custom tunes you want, and as many times as you want.
Have you looked at Quicktricks (Vivian's) website, they offer the X3 with unlimited stock custom tunes. Unlimited stock tunes are for basic mods (exhaust, intake, studs). The price is $425, and that will give you about 11 tunes. I have an original X3 which has the canned tunes on it like the SF3, the canned tunes don't even compare to custom tunes. After you run custom tunes, you'll never use the canned tunes again. |
