6.0 Straight Pipe

In the market to straight pipe my 2005 6.0 to basically make it sound louder, not really worried about the performance upgrade...

I have done a lot of research but have some questions.
I have heard to stick with the 3.5" because it is the best fit. The link below is the one I am currently looking at
Ford 6L Powerstroke Diesel Stock Muffler Delete Pipe

What is the difference between this $64.99 and the ones that are $250+?
MBRP S6212PLM 4" Straight pipe turbo back exhaust for 03-07 Ford 6.0L Powerstrok

Wanting to delete the muffler but should I also delete the Cat while im at it too?

Thanks in advance

Stock system:

3" downpipe turns into a 3.5" under the truck... just getting that delete pipe will keep the same 3.5" diameter exhuast...

The other system you are looking at is going to give you a 3.5" downpipe with a 4" under the truck... Thus making it Bigger/ louder/ less restrictive!

I would also suggest that you NOT worry about buying a system with a 4" downpipe

Many guys around my area has the Diamond Eye Exhuast which has the 4" downpie (including myself) and the installation is not as hard as some make it to be

Also, the Diamond Eye kits are USUALLY the least expensive and the quality is great. A steel pipe is a steel pipe.. can't really get a "more" better one

Difference?

Diamond Eye K4338A 4" Aluminized Cat Back Fits 03-07 Ford 6.0L

MBRP S6212PLM 4" Straight pipe turbo back exhaust for 03-07 Ford 6.0L Powerstrok

I realize that one doesn't have a muffler... Is it worth the extra penny to cut out the muffler?

Here's the deal with exhaust -

-Stainless is slightly better (last longer) than aluminized.
-aftermarket (3.5 or 4 inch) down pipe is less restrictive than stock, do it.
- 5 inch sounds a little "deeper" but dosent give you any benifit over 4 inch.
-Get rid of the cat, it's a huge restriction
-aftermarket mufflers are all a "flow through" design (they are wide open if you look through them) less restrictive than the stock muffler. They quiet the exhaust, but it'll be louder than stock.
-straight pipe (no cat no muffler) is the loudest, not really that loud though
- tips will change the sound of the exhaust a little (think, yelling vs yelling through a cone) but are mostly for looks
- decide if you want aluminized or stainless / cat or no cat / muffler or no muffler / tip or no tip.... then get the cheapest one you can find. That's the best one you can get

Thanks for the info above, you're the man

From a installation aspect, installing the 4' pipe Turbo Back, is it an easy fit or would it be easier installing the Cat Back?

It is not EASY...but the worst part is getting the old down pipe out, (many guys chop it up with a sawzall)

BUT, It is Worth it for cooling EGT's, freeing up the restriction in the stock exhuast and will sound alot better

MBRP S6212PLM 4" Straight pipe turbo back exhaust for 03-07 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke - No Muffler - Aluminized

So everything in this kit SHOULD allow me to install this myself? Just making sure before I buy this product.
Thanks

Good call

Try this though, call up that company and see if they will throw in a 5" tip

I don't think this kit comes with one and they might either throw one in or give you a deal on it

and don't tell them your set on their kit... tell them your interested but dont like the fact that it doesn't come with a tip like other Kits
