Please help. Head assembly

Installing head studs gasket the hole 9 yards.
My question is do you torque the rockers before or after your torque the head studs iv read everywhere and have not found a solid answer. Iv already torqued one head I ran the bolts in for the rockers snug and torqued the heads.Do I need to do this differently?

You need to torque the rocker arm assemblies before you torque the studs. The reason for this is to ensure that the rocker arm assemblies are properly aligned and there isnt any binding with the pushrods and holes in the rocker box. Since you have already ran the rocker arm assembly bolts in and then torqued the head stud, I wouldnt worry about it but just so you know the correct way is what I mentioned above. Hope this helps.

Thanks one more question. What is the torque on the arp head studs. The reason I ask is the paper I got with them says 210ftlbs but i have read people taking them up to 245 or higher why is this?

The torque changed with the lube ARP gives you to use.I torqued to what ARP said 210,and I did one stud for bolt and still haven't had a problem.I run the truck hard, it see EGTs of over 1700 once a day,and full amount of boost I can make out of the turbo.Wind408 can verify the running hard and not being afraid of running the truck hard when challenged by other diesel brands.Must be those dam stickers on back window.

Yea there is a debate over what value to torque the headstuds to. Right or wrong, I just do what (I believe to be the smart folks, i.e. the ones who engineer the stuff) the manufacturer recommends. Now I also did two rounds of torquing my headstuds to 210ftlbs. Not sure if it is required so take it FWIW but that is what I did.
