Headstuds?

Just wondering if there is anyway of knowning if the truck has already had head studs done? The guy who owned it before me hads gauges in it as I found a bolt in the manifold where you would put a egt probe. so Im wondering and hoping maybe he did some work to it?

I would say that there are alot more people with gauges than head studs. If I were a betting man, I would say probably not. Other than pulling the heads and seeing what is in there, I am not really sure there is any way to tell. Even with doing that, I would say it would be hard to tell.

The 5 lower headbolts are visible when you look at the motor. Attached is a link to the picture of my head with the vavle cover off, but you can see the 5 lower studs. If they are a stud then they have a nut on it. If they are factory bolts then you see the end of the bolt. The studs also have allen holes in the bolts for intallation that you see on the top.

Awesome, thanks for the good info. I was not sure. I did know it would be a little more involved.
