Question on oil cooler cover, need help
I am doing the egr delete and also replacing the oil cooler. The old oil cooler cover cracked so I ordered a new one which I just received today. Well, where all of the bolts go to attach the top cover to the assembly and the bottom bolts that connect the oil cooler are not threaded. Am I suppose to have those threaded myself? Please help...

Got any pics of both covers to help us out here?

Ok so I think you can tell the old one from the new one. All those holes on the top of the new one are not threaded and should be. On the bottom of this cooler there are 2 holes for the oil cooler to be screwed into and those also are not threaded. I am reading that the bolts are self tapping, but I want to make sure.
Also you notice to the right of the old one there is a bolt screwed into the side, but on the new one there are no threads for the bolt to be screwed in. do I just discard that bolt? |

wtf that doesn't make sense to me man did you buy it from ford? if so take it back and find someone selling one on the forum that is used I wouldn't want to have to tap a brand new piece.

you don,t have to tap. The bolts are self tapping.

Well that would make sense as to why the holes are not tapped. Gilmour, do you have any photos of the original bolts? Did the new cover come with new bolts? If so do you have pics of those as well?
