edge cts mileage av.
so i got an edge insight cts about a week ago finally and i have a few questions. my truck has 35/12.50-17 toyo mts right now so my truck mileage is off because i havent had my speedo recalibrated. in theory im driving more than my truck says i am. on the edg i can enter my stock tire size and modified tire size so it will theoretically display my correct speed on the edge. not the truck obviously. my question is if the edge shows correct speed is it also showing the correct amount of miles driven. my edge has a trip meter on it and its racking up more miles than my trucks trip meter. does this mean im technically getting better fuel mileage than i think i am? i tried hand calcualating but if the trucks not recalibrated for the tire size then this wouldn't be an accurate way to figure it out either, would it? lie-o-meter and hand calc says i get about 9.9 to 10.3 mostly city driving and a little highway/freeway. edge is averaging about 15.5 16.0 in town with stock tire size entered (285/75-16) and modified size. mods are x race intake 5'' exhaust stud deleted coolant filt. stock trans turbo and sticks. thanks for any help guys sorry for the long freakin post. p.s im also on the crap vxpa2n2 strategy, need a roll back lol.

When you tune with the SCT, you can enter your truck tire size, well actually revs per mile, in the adustable options. Won't doing that make your speedo read the correct speed? I am not sure since I am not into lifts an big tires.

Dude. I'm having a problem with my cts mileage too. I did the same as you and put in stock tires and actual tires into the cts. It says I'm getting 12+/-, with 75% hwy driving, yours says 15-16 city?!!! Damn, I have problems then. BTW I had/have the same strategy and tires are close to same. I think our strategy sucks btw, bc I before I had the tune my mileage was even worse, around 9 combined(hand calc). Now that you've tuned it though, the strategy doesn't matter anymore, supposedly.
I believe you're hand calculations are around 2mpg lower than what you're actually getting, but not totally sure. Your CTS trip meter miles should be correct, but I have huge doubts about that from my situation. Just curious if this strategy might have something to do with this: Are you getting a code U0306 after loading your tune? SCT tuner will not correct the speedo btw. Now where can I get one of those monster CCR stickers? Sign me up! Ok maybe just a little sticker, I got caught up in the moment. |

I get what you guys are saying the cts is up to date btw. I just figureded since the cts is calibrated from stock size to modified size that the ct would show my actual miles driven once i know that i can hand calc. To see where im at i guess. Im not so much concerned with the average reading as i am on how to accurately hand calc. My mileage. I just think im driving more than my truck says i am. as far as sct tire revs. I thought that was just to help with shifting. I heard it doesnt actually recalibrate the truck. Thx for the info guys! Hopefully more will chime in.

Geez it says I avg 23-24 mpg on the highway....guess this one is a$$ backwards. The sct does not calibrate the speedo, just adjust shift points to counteract the tire size

Sct x3 and sf3 on the 05+ trucks can adjust speedo (only as low as 600 revs per mile though.) U need to be at latest firmware. It was added in last year sometime
Also. To do hand calc with diff size tires you would need top tank completely off drive a pre-determined route with known mileage then top off again to do your hand calc. Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |
