SCT questions

I have an SCT Tuner on my open track mustang. I know it can be used on the truck as long as it is not "married" to the mustang. I also know that it can store more than 1 tune on it. So knowing that is it possible to use it for both vehicles? the open track doesnt move unless it is going on a trailer, off a trailer or at a track. Since niether one will be moving at the same time is what I am thinking possible? the car only has a race tune and on the truck I would like a good power tune, tow tune and mileage tune??? I dont have studs so I know I am limited. The wheels are turning in my head. I also have the edge juice platinum with attitude. I DO NOT drive the truck hard often and never if it is under 175*. Any ideas and help would be awesome.

Let me get this right, you want to use your SCT to tune both vehicles.


What will happen is, every time you return one vehicle back to stock to use on another vehicle, you'll use up a "unlock". The X-3 has 5 unlocks, so after your fifth time, the SCT will be locked out. Then you would have to contact SCT to have it reset and cost you $65.

I have an Xcal. I dont think that they have an amount of unlocks. I have a call into my car tuner to see. if there is an unlimited amount of unlocks is it not fiesable

Not a problem at all with it. But if you check the device info ussually is where you find out about the unlocks. But I'm telling you I'm pretty sure if you put a vehichle back to stock that it doesn't use an unlock. But if you put it on another vehichle that's the part idk about. You could just call sct and they will be able to answer that question

When you use your SCT on another vehicle IT WILL USE A UNLOCK!!!

Agreed. I think it's something like 5 unlocks. A unlock is when you upload the tuner, then return it to stock, then upload a tune into another vehicle. Every time it sees a new vin it uses up one of the unlocks.

Great. Thanks guys. I need to blow up the mustang motor LOL. Then I can put my biult carburated motor in and use the SCT on the truck

What sort of tune are you putting in the mustang? Just the SCT tunes? Or are you doing custom tunes?

What sort of racing are you doing? I dabble in NASA events. Trying to work my way up to take get my comp license.

It is custom tuned. I do Shelby Club events, NASA, Hooked on driving, and as many open track events I can.
