EGT too high?

Yesterday I was towing an open trailer with a Nissan 240 sx a friend of mines car and at 60mph climbing a hill not really super steep, but my EGT was climbing fast an I did what I could to hold it at 1100 is that normal? I am not tuned or any other modifications... Yet! But I do have a intake (K&N) and straight piped into stacks. My truck is a 2004 250 6.0l any info would be great. Thanks a bunch

That is not problem stage. But I guess it would be a tad bit high. You can get away with 1200-1250 while towing and stuff but you can get away with 1400 or so but only for short periods of time if like you race for from like 0-90 or something. But 1100 while towing decent weight I'm guessing trailer car and all maybe 10k lbs up a decent grade being 1100 is pretty normal

ya that's normal. I normally only tow in the summer and with 6 people in the truck, ac on full, boat loaded with all the crap, and 110 in the desert I run 1100-1200 up some of the grades for like 10-15 miles....if anything i think it burns some of the crap out of the motor...seems to run better after

General rull of thumb is that you can sustain around 1200 while towing without issue. I have seen over 1600 on a 1/4 mile run, probably around 1800, but my gauge doesn't go that high.
