Edge tuner and general NEWBY questions!

OK, I'm a newby here and to diesel trucks also....the funny thing is is this is my second Ford diesel, my first diesel was a 1986 Escort Diesel...man that thing got 54 mpg and had huge mileage on it when my wife wrecked it!

The question I have is: I've found a guy that has an Edge Evolution CS that he wants $200 for. He sold his truck and kept the tuner, I'm looking to increase fuel mileage and such. My truck is a 2006 F350 with 172000 miles and has been serviced every 5000 miles. Was a fleet vehicle and I had the dealer run an oasis report on it and they said NO warranty claims and no recalls. I bought it last month (Feb 29th) and I'm using it mainly as a daily driver, will be towing a 9k boat every once in awhile. Will this tuner help my performance and fuel mileage and are there any mods I need to do to make sure this truck lasts me a LONG time? I appreaciate any and all advice!!

Edge is ok but Most will steer you toward a custom tuned SCT.

But since you're getting a deal on the Edge heres what I would do.

Buy it and get a hold of power hungry performance. They can put great tunes on it.

Like he said, SCT with custom tunes is what most people go with on here. Personally I would stay away from programming with Edge. Your transmission will shift much better with custom tunes.

Hence the reason I gave him the option of custom tuning the edge.

Keep the Edge it's a great product even with the canned tunes. As mentioned previously Power Hungry Performance does custom tuning on that device.

Well, got the Edge, did the updates on it and installed it last night..........dayyyyumm I didn't know that the truck would run that good. I had to try it on extreme ONE time, now its set at economy and will be left there...

I think you might be coming down with something... It's ok, we all have that same bug around here.

Like Dave said, call up Power hungry performance, I'm pretty sure Bill used to work for Edge before starting his own cpmoany. He will write custom tunes for the edge, that will be on the same level as the SCT custom tunes. Custom tunes are great, because you get more power, beter mileage, and better longevity for the truck. It's a win-win-win!
