egr and tuners ???????
I'm having problems with my egr. it blew out last month and i had to have it replaced and a new turbo. it is in the shop and it is getting another egr. i have a banks six gun and was wondering if it is the cause of my egr problems. i few of my friends have the edge with attitude and they are twice as hard on there truck than i am and they haven't had any problems. one of them still has the factory exhaust and intake.
i like the power and the way my truck preforms with the chip i don't want to have to stay stock to stay out of the shop. will the sct take care of my problem? it doesn't make sense to me the banks is supposed to supper safe compared to most tuner's.

An SCT with custom tunes, keeps the EGR valve closed, this will keep the EGR from getting gummed up. I personally dont know why your truck is having problems compared to your friends, hopefully someone else will know more.

Dump the banks and get an sct, you can also do an egr delete pipe.

From what I gather the oil cooler starts to get plugged so then the EGR cooler gets less flow and won't cool as well and can crack. Oil cooler is before the cooling flow to the EGR cooler, I think I am having the same problem, I will see this weekend though.

I doubt your banks is the problem. IF I had banks I don't think it would be the cause. EGR valves have issues on stock trucks. It's nice to have the tuned xcal2 to turn it off.

it is a common problem even in stock vehicles, but banks/edge are both more harmful to your vehicle than the SCT is, because they increase cylinder pressures so much more.
once they replace your stuff, get rid of the banks, get the sct. and the sct can also be programmed to eliminate the egr operation. and get an egr delete kit which replaces one of ur up-pipes and has a block off for the egr valve. you could then remove the egr cooler if you wanted to, and reroute your coolant lines. |
