Banks and Superchips Vs SCT
So.... My friend has / had a 04 6.0, which is currently sitting in his driveway because he blew the motor (dealer said dust?) Anyways, he's running a banks intake, 4" banks exhaust, banks six gun, and a superchips, the older style one.
I'm being told that with the stacked programmers, that it would kill my truck... I'm pretty positive he's wrong.. but... whats the deal with stacking programmers? it wouldn't seem like your getting much more than confusing the crap out of the truck |

Stacking programmers is BAD! Each programmer is tested by its manufacturer to get as much power out of the engine by advancing timing, modifying VGT cycle, increasing fuel injected, etc. By stacking the prgrammers, the engine is being overloaded with timing, boost and fuel which can lead to unsafe boost levels and dangerously high cylinder pressures... probably why he blew the motor.
And I haven't even talked about what that can do to the tranny |

I agree completely. I've seen a few 6.0s running stacked tunes and they didn't last long before head gaskets and trannys come out.

i've been in 6.0's with bully dogs, edge, quadzillas, superchips, banks... never feels right, it doesnt shift right or no low end or no top end

after having custom tunes, everything else just feels wrong.

I've seen EDGE programmed trucks lay down some impressive HP numbers on the dyno. I've also beat the same trucks in a head to head. I think Edge products are probably the best "off the shelf" or "canned" tunes you can run. I still like the custom tunes the absolute best, but I do believe the EDGE tunes beat out the canned SCT tunes.
