which SCT Tunes
My truck is in the shop getting studded, oil cooler, new exhaust, EGR delete, etc...
I already have gauges. Getting a SCT to turn off the check engine light for the EGR delete. Was going to get standard SCT tunes... should I get custom tunes, and if so which ones ? I tow a jeep on a double axle trailer every now and then but that's it. I don't want a tune that smokes. Rolling coal is not my thing. Thoughts ? |

I have matts srl+ as a dd, great power, very little smoke, trans shifts good as well with it. he used to have a package with srl and 2 tow tunes for $100, haven't looked recently to tell u for sure if he still does.

It's a matter of personal preference and driving style. If you do a google search on the subject, your gonna get alot of different answers, but out of those answers you'll keep seeing the same tune writers names.

yes you will get a lot of different answers. any custom tunes are better then generic "canned" tunes. im going to give the looney tune a try soon. been driving srl for 12K+ now.

Yep I would recommend Matt's SRL.
About the "canned" tunes, I like the Street tune. Its good power bump with almost perfect shifting. The downshift is butter smooth and shifts thru the powerband perfect! That would be my only gripe about custom tunes is they shift HARD. Now I know they have to be firmer, but I wish I could have the best of both worlds. Like the shifitng of the Street canned, with the power from Matt's SRL. |

The best way is to spend a little and buy a tune or two from all the big ones and see what you like and what your truck likes.
Ive purchased from all the big names as well as some of ones that people dont talk much about or tuners who are up and coming. And to be honest some work great on my truck and others my truck just absolutely hates. And ive gone back and forth with each tuner to prefect the tune. And the truck just didnt like specific tunes. I have one that works great and was a one time deal, told the tuner what i had, told him what i wanted and he sent me a file and its my goto file at this point. How ever i am in the process of trying new tunes from another tuner. Just loaded it up last night so i will be driving it and seeing how it does on my truck. |
