sct egr turned off

so this may be a total noob question, but on my sct, it says egr turned off or on, does that mean im able to turn it off therefore creating no problems with the egr? i doubt thats the case. but i have tried searching for it, and i think it must mean it is just for the check engine light to go off? anybody who can help me out that would be great.

It turns off the valve, but the cooler diverting all of the exhaust is the issue. I picked up throttle response ditching my cooler.
Oh yeah, if the cooler ruptures it pounds coolant into your intake. EGR deletes can be had on ebay for good prices. Get the up tube and one that has one piece block/coolant tube.

It only turns the check engine light off that doing a physical delete causes, does not do anything mechanical

I stand corrected, however, I maintain that the cooler is ther root of all evil, not the valve.
