Well Im hopeing to get some of your opinons here. I have a 05 f250 6.0 That I bought with a banks ram air and monster exhaust system. I ordered a MBRP down pipe and cat delete pipe. When they came in to my freinds shop they went to install the parts only for them to tell me that there is a down pipe already on and its the same size as the MBRP. I thought it was a banks cat back system, but they are telling me theres a down pipe too. There is a cat on there that they say was probably put on for smog. So my question is I would like to lower egts when I tow my boat but I dont want it overly too loud. Should I get the cat removed? muffler? both?

What is your EGT's running while pulling the boat? How much does the boat weigh?
I'm pretty sure that you can get a Monster exhaust with a stock Cat and a full flow muffler. If this is what your truck has on it, then modifying your exhaust is not going to help your EGT's. If you really want to drop your EGT's look into a methanol/water injection system. Also get rid of that Edge Programmer and get an SCT with custom tunes. |

The boat weighs about 5500-6000 with trailer I want to drop egts and hear the turbo whistle more. |

OMG 1000-1150 on highway!!!!! How fast is "on the highway". I think that you seriously need to get rid of the EDGE and get an SCT with custom tunes. At 80 I only run 800-850, towing 15k on flat ground I rarely hit 1000. Probably need to get a good scanner and check for codes, those EGT's are pretty high for just cruising.

and full bore going up a 10% grade Im pulling 1050-1160. My probe is on the driverside manifold bottom part. Where it is recomended per the instructions. This is all at 70mph even pulling that grade the skinny pedal was on the floor to sustain the 70mph |

First throw that f-ing edge kit out the window, second, ditch the cat keep
The muffler. Mine is straight piped and way to loud when I'm on it or even leaving for work at 4 am |

The Banks monster system comes with a down pipe and cat back. You have to cut the pipe the cat is in so all your left with is the factory cat and about a foot of pipe between the 2 ends of it. Banks monster sport is only a cat back. I hollowed my cat out when I put mine on. It's not overly loud but thats what I wanted since I leave for work early and like my neighbors. I also have a batmowheel which lowered my egts 50-100 degrees depending on how/where I'm driving. Also helped a lot with turbo lag.

I have the Banks Monster exhaust also, I deleted the cat and just run the Banks muffler.
If I were you, I would delete the cat but save it in case you need it for smog later on. The stock cat is only 3-1/2" diameter so if you delete it with a 4" pipe it will help your system be less restrictive. And it sounds great!!! |

Westcoast, you will need the converter for when you get smogged. What I did first was empty the honeycomb out of it, then cut the length of the cat out of my 4" piping with a sawzall and put the cat in there with band clamps. After the inspection, I loosen the clamps and put the 4" pipe I cut out back in and call it good. Your 06 won't be as loud as my 03 or early 04 but I recommend knocking the honeycomb out of the converter because I melted my honeycomb just by driving around with a xtreme street, no towing. If I towed I would have expected the honeycomb to melt faster. I also vote to ditch the edge, I had one before I got on the forums then sold it and saw the light after I got custom tunes.
