03 Turbo

Hello,

I have a late model 04 and am replacing my hg's and studding it. I'm doing the normal upgrades while its apart and have the ability to get an 03 turbo in great shape. I have a 5" straight exhaust and from everything I've seen and heard here will love the sound of the 03.

My question is there any downside to this. There is nothing wrong with my stock turbo. I guess the only reason for the change is:
1) Mine is already out
2) I like the sound

Before I do anything I thought I'd ask.

As of now the truck is stock. The 5"exhaust is in the box and my plan is to worry about getting it running right before I tune it or anything like that. Upgrades on hand now:
1)EGR delete
2)New oil cooler
3)Banjo's
4)BlueSpring
5)gauges
6)AirDogII
7)Coolant filter
8)5" straight exhaust
9) zoodad mod
* if I keep my turbo will upgrade to the 07 turbo drain tube (not sure if that can be done with an 03)

At this point I'm more or less BROKE!!! Between machine work, gaskets and the above I'm tapped. Then there is this turbo. Its not free and doesn't come with the stand so I gotta add that in. I'm single so a couple weekends without going out and I can swing the turbo.

Thanks for any an all info

Count the vanes in your stock 04 turbo. SOME 04s got the 03 9 vane turbo (exhaust side vanes)
