Powermax???

To make a long story short I was cleaning my turbo yesterday and the unison ring is cracked and the turbo is pitted beyond belief. I was wondering if I could run a powermax with stock injectors and stock head bolts. If so where is the best place to buy these things? Thanks for the help. Dustin Ball

Yes you can. I run one on stock injectors and head bolts. Only about 500 miles so far. But to get the most out of it you're going to want a tune to take full advantage of it.

Can you tell a difference over the stock turbo? Im sure not like it would if I had injectors, but any improvements at all? I just dont want to buy another stock turbo and upgrade farther later and need to change it again. thanks for the help Dustin

Heck they run about the same as a replacement, more growth on the power side in terms of being able to throw bigger injectors in there. It is a win win. But on the other side you could pick up a used 03-07 turbo on here or craigslist way cheaper. I just got a stock 03 "the wistler" for 250 shipped to my house. I am going to spend about 200 rebuilding it and and 400 for the bantum wheel and call it good. Maybe in the summer or next year when I feel the need I will do a PMAX and injectors. Right now it is time to save money for another house while the market is low.

They are about $1000 from most of the vendors for just the turbo. Don't forget to pick up the updated oil fee and drain tubes as well as the gasket kits.

You may feel more lag on take-off if you dont have any tuning. Mid-range on up it's a monster. While driving if I'm at 15PSI already and floor the pedal it just takes OFF!!
