I have been contemplating putting some sort of programmer and exhaust system on my truck. I am wondering about BullyDog programmers and exhaust kits. What kind of luck have members had or problems? I am not looking to run quarter mile times, just something for better fuel economy and a LITTLE more power while towing. Not looking to produce huge HP gains. I don't want to strain the truck any more than I have too.

I am a newbie here, but from what I have read, Nothing but SCT with tunes from spartan, Looney Tune by vivian, or innovative.

SCT with custom tunes. You can do a search, you'll see how members went from Bully Dog to SCT, and the engine and trans was much better.

Bully Dog doesn't adjust the trans setting enough to handle the extra power added, this could result in a damaged trans.

When searching out who's SCT custom tunes to run, you'll get mixed answers. IMO, you really can't go wrong with any of the three most popular, Gearhead Automotive, Quick Tricks Automotive, and Innovative Diesel. There are two more shops that are getting great reviews, Truck Source Diesel and KEM Performance.

Spartan no longer supports SCT custom tunes.

I ran the bully dog on my truck until I was convinced to run the sct with custom tunes. The sct programs ur motor and trans!! The 6.0 loves it!! Call up Vivian at quicktricksauto.com she will set u up. With the bullydog u have a great chance of messing up your tranny

So if I go with SCT with custom tunes, what does that mean? Buying an off the shelf SCT tuner won't be as good. Like I said I am not looking to add a tremendous amount of power, just a little more when I am towing. Also looking for an improvement in fuel economy. I need my truck to last 200-300K without destroying it.

You have several options with SCT. The models they offer will be, X-3 which will only hold custom tunes. SF3 which will have canned tunes (off the shelf) and also hold custom tunes. Livewire which is also a monitor, this will hold canned and custom tunes. TSX which is a Bluetooth enabled monitor that holds canned and custom tunes.

A monitor system is very critical for the 6.0, most members prefer the Edge Insight CS/CTS as a monitor and use the SCT X-3 as the tuner. They say the high hp tunes are gonna give you your best MPG, as long as you keep your foot out of the throttle.

I've had a BullyDog on my '04 250 for 70K miles, and she loves it. I use it exactly for what you described, and I am very happy with it. If you want to spend more money and get into performance tuning, hands down, SCT tuning. Just my 2 cents!m
