Auto Enginuity Question
I have heard that the AE with the Ford bundle can do just about everything that a dealership can do with their IDS.
So I was wondering if I could get some input from people that have it and see how it worked for you. It would be nice if I could hear from a dealership tech that has used both but beggars cant be choosers. I know that all the advertisements talk about the various abilities of this system but what does/can it do that benefits us PSD owners specifically?? |

It's a good system but nowhere near what the IDS can do. It gives you all of the basics and some of the advanced features. With it, I can pull diagnostic information for all of the sensor readings to evaluate whether it's an electronic problem or a mechanical problem. It's easily worth the $400.

I bought mine back in March, but haven't had to use AE to troubleshoot my truck. I've used it to help troubleshoot another members truck, and without it, we would of just been throwing parts at the truck.
I'm not the most computer literate, so there is a learning curve for me to use the software, but the more I've played with it, the easier it gets. I'm not sure if you've read this thread, but it helped me get some insight of the capability that AE can do. AutoEnginuity Tips or Tricks Sorry I can't be of more help, but until I run into a major issue, I can only play with the on-board test and actuate/command outputs. |

Good advice, Rich. It's come in handy in tracking down the cause of my issue and I've also used it MANY times to help local folks out by testing their trucks. From 95 OBS trucks to 07 6.0L's and everything in between. In fact, I was supposed to help another guy from a local forum to scan an 03 6.0L he's having problems with, but I ended up getting sick.

Anybody in the Memphis area want to show off your Auto/Enginuity? I'm leaning toward buying one, just kinda hoping for a demo first. (and I have codes that need to be read)

Well I live in the memphis area (oakland to be exact) but I havent gotten one just yet. If you end up getting one, it would be nice to see it work for sure.

I'm in Oakland at least once a month. I'll let you know, at this point it seems inevitable. I'd considered the cheapo elm device and Torque app, but then they all seem to be saying you're rolling the dice and you should really get the better one... and by that time it's nearly to the cost of the A/E and there's no doubt that's better, so...

Yea man from everything I have read about regarding scan tools, which is a decent amount, it really seems that the AE is the best bang for your buck. I know once I get my FICM upgrade done and a couple of other things paid for, I am going to get one. I am really curious to see how my truck is doing power wise. Such as if all the cylinders are putting out roughly the same amount of power.
