Monitor then tuner

Ok, I'm wanting to keep track of more info on my motor, unfortunately funds are slim so I'm gonna have to just get a monitor for now. What I would like to do is in the future is add a tuner, preferably one that works with the monitor so I don't have two different devices or have to get rid of the monitor. Any suggestions? I've tried to do some research but I'm not having much luck. Thanks. Coach

No.. Edge tuning is notorious for trashing transmissions. Your on the right track with the monitor or gauges first. When your ready to tune get a custom tunes on a sct it's the only way to go.

Insight monitor, then an SCT tune. There are TONS of tuners just on this board alone. I run Matt's SRL tune, and it's perfect. My 35s dropped gas mileage to 11.5-12 mpg. Matt's tune brought me back up to 14 mpg...and I have more power than stock.

well your post is half correct. the older generation edge programmers did kill trannies because they did not reflash the TCM. The evolution CTS does reprogram the TCM. therefore your trans will be good to go.

I like the Insight CTS. I'm watching oil temp-coolant temp-trans temp-ficm voltage-icp pressure-battery voltage-vehicle speed-engine rpm....all on one screen. It is expandable for exhaust gas temp, back up camera and anything you wanted to check the temp or pressure of. The most you can have on the screen at one time is 8.

Buy a SCT later and run custom tunes. As far as I know you can not do custom tunes on the Edge tuner.

Yes this

Is false, SCT and Spartan are the only ones tuning the trannies. Get a Edge CTS and a SCT SF3, or X3. SCT is the only tunner to work with. I have a Livewire, I like it but if I could do it over again I would do a CTS with a X3
