How safe?
Ive read from a few people sayin that im sure to blow a headgasket if i get a tune. I have a 2003 80k mile 6.0 regular cab with the mods in my sig and i ordered a sct from innovative diesel a few days ago should be in tomorrow. The truck never tows anything with me driving it. The tunes i have are tow .. street and xtreme street any input?? thanks

, however, just becareful.......first I would get gauges not matter what to keep a good eye on things. If your going to be hard on the truck, like hammering down every where you go then your next mod will need to be studs, but if your only going to hammer down every now and then, then you should be ok...for awhile..... but yes more than likely with the increase in pressure, HP and TQ your going to put on the truck it will happen eventually....

tell the person writing your tunes for you that you dont want more than 10 degrees of timing since you have stock head bolts, you should last quite a long time with that power. if you were to go to 14 degrees, you would probably compromise the head gasket in a matter of days. i've ran many many different programs and had my truck up over 400HP with my stock head bolts. i am now running sct with matt's tunes at 10degrees and i feel comfortable, it is very safe power. of course it could be faster, but until i put these enormous studs in i will be happy with the power i have.

just ask them if that is part of their programming for a stock bolt engine, and if it is, then no harm no foul, and you sound like you know what you're talking about.. if they dont (which i can't say not sure about their programming) i see no reason why they wouldnt be glad to make that change for you. If it is too much of a pain for them to do it that way, then you can contact matt at spartan, but at least give them the chance to do that. again, they are pro's and i'm sure they know this already, but just remind them again you dont want to lift a head.
