Do I have to buy a programmer for a 2006???

Sorry for the questions I am tired of looking thru every single thread.

I just bought a 2006 FORD F-250 regular cab with 201-k miles to toy around with for a little while and wanting to do the deletes for the egr and cooler but really did not want to do any hp upgrades to it, but from what I have seen on the 05 up trucks I have to have a programmer to turn off the CEL. Is this coorect or is there away around it????

Also which is the best or less complicated delete kit to go with???

Thanks

Yes that is correct. On a 06 truck the check engine light will come on if the EGR cooler is deleted. There is no way to turn it off without a tuner.

Any of the complete deletes that give you a new exhaust up pipe will work. I've used a lot of these kits and they work great....

You can get your ecm/tcm rolled back by bill at php, he can turn the egr off while doing it.....its cheaper then a tuner and with an 06 you probably have a crappy ecm stratgey

The "strategy" is what is programmed into your ECM from the factory. Different strategies are better than others. What he is saying is that you could send the ECM off and Bill at Power Hungry Performance can change it to a different strategy and turn the EGR system off.
