Is your coolant level dropping ? Also there are some test you can do,I'll see if I can find you a link.If someone else does not chime in first.

Coolant will push out the cap. It is BEST not to wait till the heads fail.
It will be cheaper that way. You can mess up allot more than just the gaskets if you wait for the bolts to stretch. Browns diesel has arp's the cheapest that I know of so far. |

Do you have white residue around you degas bottle cap? Do you have any white smoke from the tailpipe? Do you have any way to check your oil vs. coolant temps? How fast is your coolant level dropping?

check your coolant for stuff that does not belong ie. black specks (oil) or any other contaminants. smell it to see if it smells kinda like exaust. also checkyour oil for coolant. more than likely your are going to find oil in the coolant bc your cylinder pressure exceeds your coolant pressure. i had the same issure with my 7.3 a few months ago, my coolant was dissapearing and my heater stopped working, both tall tell tails of blown head gasket. i changed my no 8 injector and failed to evacuate enough of the oil om top of my piston head and needless to say... the oil found its way out via gasket

Here's a simple test you can do to see if your pressurizing your cooling system. Keeping in mind that cooling system pressurization can be caused by a failed egr cooler too. Poorman's Headgasket test
Headgaskets will not smoke, you will not usually get an exhaust smell in your coolant, if you find any contaminates in your coolant you have other issues. It may whistle, it may puke, but not always a guaranteed sign. But it will eat coolant and over pressurize your cooling system. |
