4" or 5" exhaust
i know this subject has been touched a lot but just a quick question i have checked youtube videos and i have not been able to really tell much of a difference in noise. i can get a mbrp 4" straight pipe for $200. or i can get a 5" straight pipe for $320. is the sound difference between the 2 worth $120? i like a lot of turbo noise and not as worried about the groan yea i would like it to have groan but not as worried about the loudness of it vs the whistle.

a lot people will say the 4 inch whistles more.. i have a hard time figuring how that is.. the 5 inch will give you a deeper tone.. i would get 5 inch cause of looks and so in a year you dont look back and wish you would have spent the 100 bucks and got 5 inch

I understand what you are saying but if the whistle sound is minimal than I'll go with 4" and plus I have to convince the wife of spending the money and I'm thinking 200 will be easier

Do you do alot of towing with the truck? If so, I would recommend a muffler, it can get pretty obnoxious.....

You have an 03. The turbo is gonna whistle like a jet no matter what hahaha. I kick my self for not going 5". For looks mainly it just looks sick and 5-6" tip flows better than my 4-6" tip. 1" difference isn't going to kill the whistle. Also the bigger the exhaust the less raspy the 6.0 bark is. If looks don't bother u then 4" is perfect. Sound isn't much affected and mbrp has 3.5" down pipe so no matter what I believe it's 3.5 until the tranny cross member but I dont know. I have diamond eye which is 4" all the way back

I just put a 4" turbo back straight pipe W/ 5" tip and it sounds great!!! I have a ton of turbo noise and a nice deep tone when driving... When I'm idling, it sounds like a fighter jet ... My friend has an 03' with the same exhaust and the turbo sound is ridiculously bad a$$...

No MBPR has a 4" turbo back because I have it on my truck.

I tow my boat to the boat launch every weekend during the summer but that's only at the other corner of my neighbor hood so I wouldn't say I tow a lot technically. I'm starting to lean towards just going with 4" it doesn't sound like there is much of a difference in noise and plus that money saved can go towards the gauges I need to get still

Yea I straight piped the factory exhaust so I have an idea what to expect but its not loud enough and of course not free flowing enough either but I already planned no cat no muffler
