Muffler Delete on 5" Exhaust

I have an 05 6.0 wilth a 5" Silverline turbo back exhaust. I bought a piece of 5" pipe that's 38" long, and i also got 2 band clamps to remove the muffler. Will I be able to just bolt in the delete pipe end to end with the existing 5" pipe and use the band clamps? will that be a tight enough seal? or will i need some sort of adapter?

Thanks

I would see if you can get a muffler shop to make one or both of the sides a "slip fit", and then put the clamps over that. Would be stronger too.
Or, get some reducers.. Cut your eliminator pipe down a little, weld the reducers on, then put it in..
