Banks vs DPP vs Hypertech intercooler
Looking to upgrade my intercooler and wondered if anyone had used any of these and your thoughts. I have read the DPP and Banks are very similar and the Hyper is the best, but I haven't seen any testimonials.

intercooler
I went with a banks technicooler kit. granted I was lucky to find it used complete for a steal of a deal. but I really like the kit, was a breeze to install. I like that it came with new piping and everything. felt it was a complete upgrade kit. As for what it did to the truck. well I did a pile of mods and head studs when i installed it. but driving it around I think with the Batmowheel and that interecooler I could see a 150 egt drop. plus or minus. when I let the turbo cool down before shut down seems to cool off a lot faster. I think the batmowheel really makes it more responsive on the low and mid. I have had 2 friends drive the truck that have 6.0L and they notice a seat in the pants difference. Pulling I think is the biggest difference with a 36 ft gooseneck with 2 bob cats and buckets. I can be on the throttle a lot longer before I hit 1300 EGT. and thats my limit. I never let the truck go higher.
Is it worth the money. I say no. if I was going to pay 1300 for a new one. hell thats money I would have put towards a new truck. now the price I got mine used yes its worth it. Just depends how ya look at it. |
