Straight pipe help
I want to get a better sound out of my truck. I dont have the money right now to do a whole new exhaust system so I am looking into straight piping the stock exhaust temporarily. About what do you think an average muffler shop would charge to do this for me? Any of you guys have this done to your stock exhaust?

I am doing this to my truck soon, I've got an aftermarket system, that it came with.. But I don't want the muffler anymore..
The few places i've called around me here.. are basically just gonna charge me for the 7' piece of 4" they have to buy, since they don't do many diesel's, and like $20 for the welding... So im lookin at right around $100 for it... |

My truck had the stock exhaust with a cat and no muffler when I got it. Had a pretty nice sound. I put a 5 inch straight pipe system on it and there's no comparison sound-wise... It's awesome. You can get a 4 inch straight pipe aluminized exhaust system from Diamond Eye or Mbrp for a little over 250 dollars if you shop around.... They come with a bigger downpipe and you don't have to do any welding or pay anyone to install it... Just a thought!

I got bored about a month ago and welded a piece of 4" from an old MBRP system in place of the muffler and hollowed out the cat. I like the sound it has, a little raspy at the higher RPM's, but it sounds good. I can definitely see how the 4" or 5" would probably provide a deeper tone to it.

like said above, u can get a 4inch system pretty cheap if u shop around....and if it was me, i would just wait and save that 100-150 and put it towards a 4inch......they sound great and look great....

Just ordered a Diamond Eye system from Quick Tricks for around $250. No tip, but those can be had on Ebay for about $15-$20 bucks.
