SCT # of Trucks

I believe that and SCT can only be used on three trucks. But if I have a SCT x3 and I plug it into another truck just to read the strategy will it count as one of those trucks? Or do I have that all wrong and SCT can only be used on 1 truck? Also do any trucks have the same strategy? If they do have the same stategy can a single SCT tuner with the custom tunes be used for two trucks? I know that was several questions and any info helps. Thank you

A. Some have 3 unlocks some have 5.
B. I'm not sure if your able to plug into it and get a strategy reading, without unlocking from the current truck.
C. Sct can only be used on 1 truck at a time.
D. I am not positive, but I don't think 2 trucks have the same strategy.
E. Relative to D. But if you do have the same strategy, you still can only tune 1 truck at a time.

Thank you for the information. I know my wife is wanting to look for herself a truck and I was wondering if using the same SCT would be an option for two trucks if she was to get a 6.0 as well.

No, like I said, when you tune the truck, the sct becomes "locked" onto that truck, until it unlocks I don't believe you can do anything with it, on another vehicle...

If I where you, find a used sct, before you buy it, plug it into a truck, to go into the options and check for how many more unlocks it has, and of it locked or unlocked.

When buying a used SCT, here is some reading material for you.
What to look for when buying used SCT for 6.0

Be careful buying a used SCT with custom tunes already on it, some strategies and year trucks are not interchangeable. Which could lead to a locked out PCM, that will cost you a tow to the dealer and $150 for the dealer to reflash your PCM. You can read this info on this link on the first post from the SCT vendor.

Thanks for the info. I might try and pick a used one up when the time gets closer and we decide on what she wants.
